The Road and the Radio Album Cover

I was surfing on BNArecords.com (Kenny Chesney's record label) this morning and saw his new album cover. It's the first time I have seen it anywhere, so it's pretty cool that I found it and thought I would share it with you. Obviously the CD is not out yet, and it's not scheduled for release until November 8, so I guess they still have time to change the album cover. So, I'll just say that this is the unofficial album cover of his new album "The Road and the Radio." Maybe I'll give BNA a call today to confirm. (I confirmed it with the nice young lady at BNA... It will be the cover to his latest album.)

Looking at this new album cover, I found it interesting that Kenny Chesney's last 4 album covers have him posed looking straight at the camera. This cover shows him looking away from the camera similar to his album Everywhere We Go. And a lot of his other earlier albums have him photographed not looking straight at the camera. Is this a hint of what the album will be like? Is Kenny getting back to his roots of his earlier albums? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Let the countdown begin... We only have about 75 days until Kenny's newest album “The Road and the Radio" release date. As I mentioned before... I cannot wait to hear some tracks off this one! Personally, I hope this album is a lot like Kenny's When The Sun Goes Down album. I just think that sound is great for him.

Kenny's Thoughts

I am always amazed by some of the stuff I read from Kenny. He's got so many different layers of his thoughts... Such an interesting person. I thought I would share this with you.

Kenny Chesney's Best Summer Memories

I found this article this morning and tried to think of one of my favorite summer memories. I remember I was about 13 and my aunt took me to the beach on the south side of Long Island along with a few other kids and a special young lady around the same age as me. We used to ride the waves and when we needed a little shade, we would hide from everyone under the boardwalk and innocently kiss one another. Looking back at that now puts a smile on my face.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Kenny Chesney is having the best summer of his life this year, with a fabulous new wife in his life, and a monster, sellout tour.

But, he says the best summer of his young life goes back to when he had that lifeguard job.

"The best summer I ever had was the summer after my freshman year in college and me and my best friend, David Farmer, were lifeguards at this pool at a lake resort down in East Tennessee. David's folks had a houseboat and we drove it down from their dock to where the pool was and we stayed there for two weeks without going home. We'd just be in the sun all day, go life guard, then get off work and go back to the boat and cook and then take out David's ski boat skiin' and then we'd fish all night," he said.

What, no partying?

"Well, we weren't alone," he said with a grin, they were lifeguards after all. "We had a lot of fun...and so...that two weeks on that boat made it the best summer I had."

Two Sold Out Shows For Kenny Chesney At Alltel Pavilion

Yes, more sold out shows for the face of new country Mr. Chesney. His two shows that sold out at Raleigh's Alltel Pavilion were around 40,000 tickets. Friday night's show sold out in 13 minutes.
Kenny played a couple of songs off of his latest album Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair, then the crowd really enjoyed songs from When The Sun Goes Down album. He also sang songs off of other albums like "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "How Forever Feels", which had the audience singing and dancing in their seats.

Some say the Somewhere in the Sun tour has the same feel as last summer's Guitars, Tiki Bars and a Whole Lot of Love tour -- With a very close set of songs as last years tour. I saw him in Ft. Lauderdale this year and Kracker, Gretchen and Chesney rocked the house. He was awesome! Speaking of Kracker, at the Alltel Pavilion, Kenny and Kracker did When The Sun Goes Down as well as a rendition of Kid Rock's "Cowboy."

Chesney and Gretchen Wilson sang together doing one of John Mellencamp's songs "Hurts So Good."

The ticket price for one of Kenny's shows is not exactly cheap, but for what he gives the audience, it is well worth the price. According to Kenny Chesney's website www.kennychesney.com, his remaining shows are sold out -- Which means you'll have to wait until next time to see him live. I for one cannot wait to see him perform live again.

Article on Zellweger Slamming Reports About Her Marriage

Found this article today which was published August 1, 2005. I'm a little more hopeful hearing about this. I think I might have blogged some of this news on another day... It does look familiar. Anyway, for those of you that are also bummed about all the negative publicity, here you go:

Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger has slammed reports her three month marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney is in trouble.

British newspaper the Daily Mail claimed on July 30, the famous couple have barely spent any time together since their wedding in May.

The 36-year-old Texan actress and 37-year-old musician married on the Caribbean island of St John after a whirlwind four month courtship. A unnamed friend of the actress alleged, "The realities of married life are hitting them both awfully hard. "Renee had no idea how involved in every aspect of her life Kenny would want to be.

She'd never even seen him lose his temper before the wedding, but now he seems to think he can tell Renee what to do, what to wear, where to go and who to see. He doesn't seem to like her hanging out with her old friends."

Zellweger's publicist Nanci Ryder has laughed off the rumors, saying their relationship is "great".

Meanwhile, Chesney's spokeswoman Holly Gleason remarks, "He's focusing on what he does best: making music."

What? Quicky Divorce!

I heard an interesting thing from an online magazine. It seems that Renee Zellweger is dragging Mr. Chesney to counselling sessions just three months into their marriage. Kenny's obsession with food and fitness has Renee thinking about doing a "quickie divorce".

I still don't buy it. I guess I am just being hopeful that it will work out for the two. Maybe it's just gossip.

Kenny Is Matching Event Records To The Likes Of Elvis & Elton

Kenny Chesney is on his "Somewhere In The Sun" tour, and he's racking up records matched by only two artists before him. He's sold out three nights at Atlanta's Philips Arena. In the history of Atlanta's major arenas, only Elvis Presley and Elton John have sold out three nights in a row. For the math-minded, that's close to 18,000 tickets per night. Chesney said when they told him, it took him back a little bit. He said the first record he ever bought was Elvis' "Greatest Hits" and he feels he's in some pretty special company. Chesney's current single is "Keg In The Closet" from his When The Sun Goes Down album.

He is playing a concert in Cincinnati later this month, but country singer Kenny Chesney was also expected in the city Monday, to shoot a music video. Details about filming locations and other specifics were being kept extremely quiet. And, a local production company that put together his two previous music videos was also tight-lipped. Chesney, who recently married actress Renee Zellweger, performs at the US Bank Arena on Aug. 25, 2005.

Chesney & Zellweger Heading For A Split?

I keep on hearing (or reading) rumors about them not getting along and having "petty" sqarrels over their Nashville mansion. They reportedly have not spent very much time together since their May 9 wedding in the Virgin Islands.

Could this be true already? Personally, I highly doubt it. They seem pretty much in love and it's just too early to tell how they will work out. Hopefully it's just rumors and they will live happily ever after, but you never know I guess. They are both strong willed people and if they want it to work out, it will.

Zellweger's publicist, Nanci Ryder, tried to put an end to the rumors, saying the relationship is "great." Chesney's spokeswoman, however, had a more telling remark. "He's focusing on what he does best: making music."

Kenny Chesney Draws Over 54,000 Fans at PA Show

The largest crowd ever to attend a country concert in Pittsburgh showed up Saturday (July 30) for Kenny Chesney's show at Heinz Field. A crowd of 54,133 attended the show that also featured Gretchen Wilson, Keith Urban, Uncle Kracker and Pat Green. The concert was taped for a TV special scheduled to air Nov. 23 on ABC.

And on September 18, Chesney will put that commitment to work when he joins Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and his friend John Mellencamp to participate in the 20th anniversary of Farm Aid Concert.

"I remember the first Farm Aid, and the spirit of all those musicians coming together to be the voice of the families who made their living as farmers -- and had for generations," says the Luttrell, Tennessean. The man whose quadruple platinum "When The Sun Goes Down" is the CMA Album of the Year and whose introspective "Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair" became Chesney's third album to debut at #1 on Billboard's all-genre Top 200 first met Farm Aid board member Mellencamp when the two performed on CMT's "Crossroads" two years ago.

Chesney is in the middle of quite a year. In addition to appearing at Farm Aid this year, Chesney's current Somewhere In The Sun Tour -- at this point, the concert tour that's sold more tickets than any other act on the road in America, ahead of U2 by over 200,000 tickets -- heads into Boston on July 23 for the second of three stadium shows this summer. Meeting Kenny Chesney

My wife, daughter and I were on vacation for the past week or so and our last stop was Greenville, SC. We stayed at the downtown Hyatt like we did 2 years ago -- I get a good deal as I work for Hyatt. We had a really nice time there since we really love the area and people there. A few weeks before our trip, I had found out Kenny Chesney was coming to Greenville around the same time we were taking our vacation. I then looked into getting tickets as soon as I found out. For some reason I thought I had read on Ticketmaster that his concert was on Saturday, July 9 (the day we were leaving SC) and did not buy the tickets. When we arrived in Greenville, I discovered that Kenny's concert was actually on Thursday, July 7. Needless to say, I was pretty dissapointed that I didn't get the tickets.

My wife and I had just seen Kenny in concert in Ft. Lauderdale the night before he and Rene Zellweger said their "I do's", so I wasn't that pissed I didn't get tickets to his Greenville show -- Pissed nothertheless. By the way, his show in Ft. Lauderdale was friggin' AWESOME!

So, on the night Mr. Chesney is to perform (July 7, 2005), my wife, daughter and I headed out of our hotel room and was on our way to dinner at one of our favorite Greenville restaurants. We jump into the elevator and we see this young man wearing a Kenny Chesney shirt, cowboy hat, and jeans. My wife asks, "Are you going to the show tonight?" The guy says, "Yep, and Kenny is right downstairs in the lobby." We both are like, "GET THE CAMERA!" So, I make a b-line back to the hotel room and grab my camera. My wife suggested I get my Kenny Chesney shirt for him to sign -- I grabbed that too.

We hopped back into the elevator, went down to the lobby where he was sitting and I said, "Hello Mr. Chesney." He slowly (at least it seemed like it was in slow motion), looked at me and smiled. I offered him my hand and we shook hands. I said, "I know you get a lot of people asking for pictures and stuff, but would it be okay?" Kenny says, "Sure no problem." He was so cool about the whole thing. I know it's not such a big thing for him to see me, but it was for me. I was pretty nervous and started talking about how I didn't get tickets to his show. I did let him know that we saw him in Ft. Lauderdale though. My wife said that he had changed our lives. Kenny said, "God bless you guys." He has changed our lives in a way... His songs do bring our family closer together and I think about my daughter a lot with his songs. I started getting a little emotional after my wife had said that.

Kenny was with two other folks, possibly tour managers or maybe relatives. We had the nice lady take our picture and I also asked Kenny if he could sign my shirt. We looked for a pen from the hotel personel, but then Kenny was like, "I found one." I plan on getting the shirt framed along with the picture we took with him.

New Kenny Chesney Album Set To Be Released

Kenny Chesney has set the release date for the follow up to When The Sun Goes Down and we’re certain that the sun is still gonna be shining on this one. The release date is set for November 8th and the album is called The Road & The Radio. The title track was written by Kenny himself and hopefully the whole album has as much success as Kenny’s last release! “We’ve been keeping plenty busy,” Chesney said. “But I think by now everybody knows, not a day goes by that I’m not thinking about the music. And it seemed like we started looking for songs almost as soon as ‘Sun’ dropped, and we got to hear some pretty great stuff, too.”

Follow-Up To The Quadruple-Platinum CMA Album of the Year Ramps Up

Nashville: It's been 17 months since the release of When The Sun Goes Down, Kenny Chesney's last full-on studio release, but the time between has been well-invested in writing, listening and making music. With final tracking just completed, Chesney and co-producer Buddy Cannon are preparing for the Nov. 8th release of The Road & The Radio -- the follow-up to the Luttrell, Tennessean's quadruple platinum Country Music Association Album of the Year, which features the 3 multiple week #1s "There Goes My Life," the Uncle Kracker duet title track and "Anything But Mine."

"We've been keeping plenty busy," Chesney says with a laugh. "But I think by now everybody knows, not a day goes by that I'm not thinking about the music. And it seemed like we started looking for songs almost as soon as Sun dropped… and we got to hear some pretty great stuff, too."

The title track -- about seeking one's truth behind the wheel with the radio as one's truest companion -- was written by Chesney.

"You know," says the reigning CMA and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, "when I looked at what my life was and how it is, there are a few things that have remained constant. You can find your answers out on the road -- or listening to the radio, and it's certainly they way I've always lived my life. Touring around and listening to the story people tell me about the songs I've cut, I realize a lot of other people live their life between the white lines and the grooves in the road, too."

Drawing on some of Nashville's best writers - and looking at three songs from his own pen -- Chesney put a lot of thought into how he wanted the follow-up to his critically acclaimed introspective Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair when he made his return to a straight-ahead commercial project. For in what could be deemed his singer/songwriter record, the man who has won the Academy of Country Music's Top Male Vocalist and Single of the Year Awards found a whole new dimension to self-expression.

"After Be As You Are, it made me realize how much of yourself you can invest in a record," says the man who's hit with "I Go Back," "Young," "The Good Stuff," "How Forever Feels" and more. "You don't realize how specific in your life can be exactly the specific stuff in other people's lives… and in that, it made me challenge myself to go deeper. I wrote some of the songs that ended up on When The Sun Goes Down because I needed to say certain things… Everything about The Road & The Radio is about that, which made the process harder, but also more fulfilling in a strange way."

Look for Chesney's next album Nov. 8th. In the meantime, the man who's currently inside USA Today with a full page examining what goes into taking his SRO tour stadium-sized is slated to get up close and personal with CBS News' Rita Braver for a "Sunday Morning" piece slated to air July 24.

CMA Entertainer Ascends Into ACM Triple Crown Club With The Win

Las Vegas: There was plenty of time for speeches when Barbara Mandrell announced Kenny Chesney as this year's Academy of Country Music's Entertainer of the Year -- and the boy from Luttrell, Tennessee, who'd sung the achingly yearning song of lasting love from a moment "Anything But Mine," took the stage to acknowledge all the people who'd been part of his 12 year rise to the top. In addition to winning the night's biggest prize, last night's award made him only the 6th person in history to win the Academy's Triple Crown of Best New Male/Female/Group, Best Male/Female/Group or Duo and Entertainer of the Year.

"When I was walking off the stage, Barbara whispered in my ear about the Triple Crown," says Chesney, truly awed by the honor and the moment, "and I just had to stop for a second. Winning Entertainer of the Year is a pretty big deal to me -- because I think it's everything that me and the people around me are so committed to: connecting and rocking those fans, but that put it in a whole other light. Because it's not just about being Entertainer of the Year, which is huge, it's about being a part of history, being in a very special club with some very artists who really shaped and changed our music and the growth that we've taken years to achieve.

"I go onstage at 9:15 every night, but the show really starts at 2:30 every day when the fans get to the parking lot and start cooking out and tail-gating," said the man who now holds the top Entertainer of the Year honor from both the ACM and the Country Music Association in his acceptance speech, who also honored his label, managers, musicians, crew and truck drivers.

"I've had a buncha time to think about what I wanted to say -- and all the people who've contributed to helping me make all this happen," said the singer/songwriter, "cause let me just tell you: this doesn't happen alone. I've been blessed with an amazing team, and even more than being the best at what they do, these are people who care deeply about me, who love my dream and are committed to this the same way I am. When I think about that, it really makes me see how blessed I am."

Renee Zellweger, Kenny Chesney Get Married

Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger and country music star Kenny Chesney were married Monday in a small ceremony on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The ceremony took place in front of close friends and family, Los Angeles-based publicist Nanci Ryder said in a statement. The bride wore Carolina Herrera, she added.

It was the first marriage for both.

The couple met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit Jan. 15, where Chesney was singing and Zellweger was answering telephones, the syndicated television news magazine "The Insider" reported.

Chesney, 37, lives on the island of St. John, while Zellweger, who turned 36 two weeks ago, is from Katy, Texas.

Zellweger won a best supporting actress Oscar for "Cold Mountain." She was nominated for Oscars for her work in "Chicago" and ">Bridget Jones's Diary."

Chesney currently has two albums on Billboard's top 10 country albums chart, and his single "Anything But Mine" is No. 6 on the magazine's hot country songs list.

Chesney was named Country Music Association entertainer of the year in November, while his "When The Sun Goes Down" was named album of the year. Other of his hits include "Me and You" and "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."

According to Country Weekly magazine, Chesney long ago named Zellweger as his favorite actress and was inspired to write his 1999 hit "You Had Me From Hello" after seeing her in "Jerry Maguire."

Zellweger appeared at a recent Chesney concert in Jacksonsville, Fla., presenting him with a margarita and a kiss on stage, Country Weekly magazine reported.

Zellweger has dated White Stripes singer Jack White and "Me, Myself & Irene" co-star Jim Carrey.
